My name is Kiki Blum. I moved from Essex to Edinburgh for a paper conservation placement at the National Archives of Scotland in 1999 and didn’t leave because I met my husband and we had three kids. I gave up work because it was all getting a bit too much trying to juggle young kids and both of us with full time jobs.
My mum, a regular user of sewing machines, gave me my Bernina on my graduation from uni…..which I didn’t take out of the box for nearly 13 years and now I use it practically every day! I stitch, mend, quilt and sew between looking after the kids and roller derby. Sometimes I feel like this is my only valuable skill…to fix people’s broken clothes for wine…sometimes.
